This Website
As stated on the header, this website was created to be a central source for NABU PC News and Information. The reason why this site is created is that (so far) there is not a central site that keeps track of what’s going on from various projects and websites that has been cropping up since the day Adrian’s Basement’s video appeared.
Right now, it only has the latest news and links to some NABU sites, but in the future, there will be more categories and items this website will provide.
Baby steps, folks.
The Computer Itself
The NABU, or more correctly, the NABU Network, was an 80’s Canadian computer system that depended on a network to get software and service, through a cable network. During those times, most computers got their software from floppy disks, but not the NABU. The NABU got it from another device called the Adaptor, which was connected to a cable feed.
The way it worked was that a cable subscriber can either purchase the computer outright for $950, or rent it and pay the montly service fee of $8-$10 CAD. The man behind this was John Kelly, an entrepreneur.
The computer service got started in 1983 in Ottawa but ended around 1985 due to low suscription.
